City Maintenance Request

Public Notices

We are looking for interested citizens to be part of a Planning Commission and also an Appeals Board. The Planning Commission consists of 5 members and the Appeals Board consists of 3 members. Members must live within city limits and no further than 3 miles outside of Yates Center or own a property in the City of Yates Center. This will be a non-paid position. Please contact city hall (620-625-2118) or any council member if interested.

Bid Notices

The City of Yates Center is compiling a list of contractors interested in bidding on the cleanup of properties in violation of city codes. 1,000,000 liability insurance and work comp coverage required. Employment Opportunities

CODE OFFICER/ZONING ADMINISTRATOR
This position combines the job duties of code enforcement officer and zoning administrator. It is a
part-time position without benefits. This is an immediate opening and applications will be taken until position is filled and does not require residency in Yates Center.
CODE ENFORCEMENT OFFICER – The officer will take complaints and look for code violations regarding but not limited to:
- Tall grass and weeds
- Inoperable and untagged vehicles
- Unsafe or unsightly houses
- Residents living in campers

Following procedures set by city ordinance, officer will notify property owners and follow through until violation is corrected. This could involve writing tickets or notifying city contractor to mow.
Files will be kept updated on all code violations.

ZONING ADMINISTRATOR – Will be responsible for helping citizens with zoning or building permit questions. Administrator will be required to check zoning requirements and mark city right-of-way before permits are issued.

A high school diploma or GED is required.

A valid driver’s license is required.

The employee is under the direct supervision of the Chair of the Administrative Committee and the general supervision of the Administrative Committee.
